Obverse description The fourth definitive effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, modelled by Ian Rank-Broadley, occupies the centre of the obverse as a right-facing diademed and draped bust set within a beaded border. The Queen is depicted wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara. The Latin legend ELIZABETH·II·D·G·REG·F·D curves around the upper periphery, while the date 2008 appears at the base; the engraver's initials IRB are discreetly incused beneath the truncation of the neck.
