| Obverse description | The obverse features the second portrait effigy of Queen Elizabeth II facing right, depicted with a tiara and wearing a lace-trimmed neckline, as modelled by Arnold Machin. The legend ISLE OF MAN is inscribed along the upper left periphery, with ELIZABETH II continuing along the upper right. The date of issue appears at the base of the coin, below the truncation of the effigy. The portrait is rendered in high relief with fine detail on the Queen's hair and regalia, characteristic of the Machin series adopted for Commonwealth coinage from 1968. |

| Reverse description | The reverse presents a stylised Celtic-inspired depiction of a ram in full stride, rendered in the distinctive interlaced knotwork tradition of Manx Celtic art, as designed by Leslie Lindsay. The animal's body is decorated with flowing linear striations and surrounded by elaborate scroll and tendril motifs that fill the field. The numeral 5, flanked by decorative Celtic knotwork elements, appears at the lower centre of the design. The engraver's initials are visible in the lower left field. The overall composition reflects the Isle of Man's rich Norse-Celtic artistic heritage. |
