| Obverse description | Central device depicts the Portuguese armillary sphere with the national shield superimposed at center, rendered in high relief against a plain field. The word PROVA (Pattern) appears incuse in small letters above the shield within the sphere. A circular legend reading REPÚBLICA PORTUGUESA runs along the periphery, divided by small ornamental stars at the base. The coin exhibits a beaded border encircling the entire design. The date of issue appears in the lower field beneath the armillary sphere. |
