Obverse description Central field dominated by the tughra (imperial monogram) of Sultan Mahmud II, rendered in the characteristic Ottoman calligraphic style with interlocking loops and vertical strokes. The tughra is enclosed within a decorative floral wreath border encircling the entire coin, composed of stylized vegetal scrollwork typical of early nineteenth-century Ottoman minting practice. The design is struck in relatively low relief, consistent with the copper coinage produced at the Cairo Mint under Ottoman suzerainty.
Obverse script Arabic

Reverse description The reverse presents a two-line Arabic inscription in the central field, divided by a horizontal line, reading the mint name 'Misr' (Egypt) above and the regnal year below, all set within a decorative floral wreath border matching that of the obverse. The Arabic numerals denoting the Hijri year 1223 and the regnal year (28 or 29) are clearly positioned, identifying the specific year of issue. The overall layout follows the standard Ottoman provincial coinage format, with the legend arranged in a formal, rectilinear composition within the coin's field.
