Reverse description The central field within a beaded inner circle bears the mint name and dual dating in Arabic naskh script, indicating both the regnal year (year 18) and the Hijri accession year (1223 AH). A circular Arabic legend surrounds the central inscription within the beaded border, with the phrase indicating the place of striking. The outer rim is defined by a toothed serrated border consistent with the hammered technique employed at the Misr (Cairo) mint. The die workmanship is characteristic of early nineteenth-century Egyptian Ottoman coinage.
