Obverse description Central device depicts the ornate plumed crown of Nepal (Shree Pech), rendered in fine detail and set upon a decorative throne-like base. A crescent moon and star appear in the upper left field, with a small symbol to the upper right. Devanagari legend encircles the crown across the upper and lower portions of the coin, reading the royal title and name of King Mahendra Bir Bikram Shah. The Bikram Sambat regnal year 2013 appears in the lower exergue below the central device.

Reverse description The numeral '5' in Devanagari script occupies the center of the field, enclosed within an octagonal or multi-lobed flower-shaped border with irregular scalloped edges. The Devanagari legend 'श्री भवानी' appears above the central device, while 'पाँच पैसा' (Five Paisa) is inscribed below, flanked by decorative scroll or spiral ornaments on either side within the field.
