| Reverse description | A sacred cow stands in profile facing left, occupying the central field of the coin, rendered in bold relief. The legend 'Shri Bhavani' (श्री भवानी) appears in Devanagari script in the upper portion of the field, invoking the goddess Bhavani. Below the cow, the denomination is inscribed in Devanagari as '५ पाँच पैसा' (5 Panch Paisa), with the numeral '५' appearing to the lower left. The cow, sacred in Hindu tradition, serves as a powerful national and religious emblem of Nepal. |

| Additional information |
Nepal Rastra Bank was established in 1956 to replace the antiquated Himalayan Bank system and assert independent monetary control — these small aluminium paisa issues of Mahendra's reign were part of that broader metrication push as Nepal transitioned toward a decimalized currency structure in the late 1950s and 1960s. Mahendra himself had suspended the constitution and seized direct power in 1960, ruling by royal decree through the Panchayat system for the remainder of his life.
He died in January 1972, which neatly explains the series' end date of 1971.
