Obverse description Central field dominated by the elaborately engraved royal cypher of Frederick I, formed by an interlaced script 'F' and 'R' (Fredericus Rex), surmounted by a jewelled and arched Swedish royal crown rendered in fine relief. The date 1722 is divided at the upper left and upper right of the crown. A circular legend surrounds the central device, reading IN DEO SPES MEA (In God is my hope), punctuated by lozenge stops. The coin's rim is defined by a toothed or milled border running the full circumference.
