| Reverse description | The turreted Tyche of Antioch personifying the city is depicted seated left within a columned aedicule or shrine, holding a palm branch as an attribute of civic prosperity. At her feet, the half-submerged figure of the river-god Orontes swims leftward, a compositional element drawn from the celebrated Hellenistic sculptural group by Eutychides. A retrograde Greek letter epsilon (Ε) appears to the left of the shrine, serving as a mintmark or officina indicator for the Antioch mint. |
