Issued as part of Israel's wildlife series, this coin commemorates the Anatolian leopard (Panthera pardus tulliana), a subspecies that was still occasionally sighted in the Galilee and Golan regions into the mid-twentieth century before effectively disappearing from the wild in Israel. The last confirmed kill on record dates to 1965 near the Syrian border.
