Reverse description Central field bears a finely modelled left-facing bare-headed bust of Freiherr vom Stein (Heinrich Friedrich Karl vom und zum Stein, 1757–1831), the celebrated Prussian statesman and reformer, depicted in high relief with naturalistic portraiture in the neoclassical medallic tradition. A circular legend in Fraktur blackletter script surrounds the effigy along the rim, reading 'Minister vom Stein • Deutschlands Führer in schwerer Zeit 1757–1831', commemorating his role as a leader of Germany in a time of hardship.
