Reverse description Central field displays the Chinese denomination inscription 五枚 (5 Mei) in two large characters arranged vertically, set against an open field and flanked by two crossed sprays of wheat ears rising from the lower field. The wheat sprays, finely engraved with individual grain heads and long leaves, converge at the top and are joined at the base by a ribbon or scroll bearing the Western numeral date 1936 in the exergue. The entire design is surrounded by the same Greek key (meander) decorative border as the obverse, giving the pattern a consistent and formal aesthetic.
