The Polska Krajowa Kasa Pożyczkowa — the Polish State Loan Bank — was established under German occupation in 1916 to manage currency in the occupied territories, initially issuing marek pegged to the German Mark. By 1919, the institution was operating under the restored Polish state, and this note belongs to that transitional period before the Kasa was dissolved and replaced by Bank Polski in 1924.

Adam Półtawski is better remembered as a typographer — his Antykwa Półtawskiego typeface, developed in the 1920s, became a defining element of interwar Polish graphic identity. His involvement here predates that project.
