Finland's replacement note convention during this period used an asterisk suffix on the serial number — a system borrowed from broader European practice but applied with particular consistency by Suomen Pankki across its postwar issues. The Litt. A and Litt. B designations indicate successive printings with minor typographic or plate differences, a cataloguing distinction that matters more to specialists than the distinctions were ever intended to signal.
Printed domestically by the Government Printing Centre rather than contracted abroad, as had been common in earlier decades when Finnish security printing capacity was limited.
