Pick 99 was printed entirely in-house at the Bank of Finland's own printing works — one of the few central banks in the world at the time operating a fully self-contained note production facility. The 1963 series marked a transitional period following Finland's 1963 currency revaluation, in which 100 old markkaa equalled 1 new markka, effectively resetting the denomination structure after years of postwar inflation had bloated face values beyond practical use.
The nine recorded replacement prefixes is an unusually high count for a low-denomination note of this period, suggesting either sustained press runs over several years or significant spoilage rates during production.
