| Obverse description | Central field features a symmetrical decorative motif composed of four interlocked loops arranged in a cruciform pattern, rendered in relief with double-line engraving. The design, sometimes described as a stylized knot or interlace ornament, occupies the majority of the field. The circular legend SUOMEN TASAVALTA (Republic of Finland) runs along the upper periphery, flanked by small circular stops. The date appears in the lower exergual area, also flanked by small circular stops. |

| Reverse description | The large numeral '5' dominates the central field, rendered in bold relief. The denomination legend MARKKAA curves along the lower periphery in upright Latin lettering. To either side of the numeral, a pair of stylized clasped or grasped hands rendered as decorative devices flank the figure at mid-field, separated from the numeral by vertical rules. The field is otherwise plain, with a raised rim encircling the design. |
