Obverse description Left-facing bare-headed effigy of King Otto of Bavaria occupying the central field, rendered in high relief with finely detailed hair and a short moustache. The portrait is modelled in a restrained neoclassical style characteristic of late Wilhelmine coinage engraving. A circular legend reads OTTO KOENIG VON BAYERN along the upper periphery, interrupted by the bust. The mintmark D appears below the truncation at the bottom of the field. A dentilated border frames the entire obverse.
