Obverse description Bare-headed, bearded effigy of Georg II, Duke of Saxe-Meiningen, facing right, rendered in high relief with finely detailed flowing beard and fur-trimmed mantle. The circular legend surrounds the portrait, reading GEORG II HERZOG SACHSEN-MEININGEN with the date 1900 at the base and the mint mark D positioned just below the truncation. The rim is decorated with a continuous beaded border.

Reverse description The German Imperial eagle displayed with wings spread, shown as a double-headed eagle surmounted by a single imperial crown; the breast bears an inescutcheon with the Hohenzollern arms, and the eagle is adorned with the chain of the Order of the Black Eagle. The circular legend DEUTSCHES REICH with the date 1900 runs along the upper periphery, while the denomination FÜNF MARK appears at the base, with five-pointed stars flanking the legend breaks. The rim is edged with a beaded border throughout.
