Obverse description Bare-headed, bearded effigy of Duke Georg II of Saxe-Meiningen in right-facing profile, rendered with fine naturalistic detail emphasizing the subject's advanced age and long flowing beard. The truncation is unadorned. The mint mark 'D' appears below the bust at the base. The surrounding legend reads GEORG II HERZOG V SACHSEN-MEININGEN, disposed along the inner border of a continuous beaded rim.

Reverse description The standard Imperial German crowned eagle displayed with wings spread, head turned to the left, the breast charged with a quartered heraldic shield. The eagle is adorned with the chain of the Order of the Black Eagle and the Hohenzollern shield at centre breast. The legend DEUTSCHES REICH and the date 1900 arc around the upper field, flanked by small six-pointed stars, while the denomination FÜNF MARK is inscribed along the lower field, all within a beaded rim.
