| Obverse description | Bare-headed right-facing bust of Friedrich I, Grand Duke of Baden, rendered in high relief with naturalistic detail showing his aged features, full beard, and short hair. The circular legend reads FRIEDRICH GROSHERZOG VON BADEN around the upper periphery, while the dates 1826 and 1907, separated by a star and a cross pattée respectively, appear along the lower rim, commemorating the Grand Duke's birth and death years. The field is smooth and the design is bounded by a fine beaded border. |

| Additional information |
Frederick I of Baden died on September 28, 1907, after a reign of over fifty years — one of the longest among the German federal princes of the Wilhelmine period. This commemorative was authorized in the same year as his death, making it among the faster memorial issues of the era. Baden's mint at Karlsruhe produced the piece under tight ceremonial deadlines.
Davenport's German Talers reference places this among the final large-format silver commemoratives issued before the German states lost meaningful independent coinage authority following World War I.
