Obverse description Bare-headed effigy of Duke Carl Eduard of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha in right-facing profile, rendered in high relief with finely detailed hair. The truncation of the neck is unadorned. The circumferential legend reads CARL·EDVARD·HERZOG·V·SACHSEN·COBVRG·V·GOTHA, separated by raised dots, within a beaded border. The mint mark 'A' for the Berlin Mint appears at the base of the neck truncation.
