Obverse description Dark blue letterpress on cream paper with an elaborate floral and acanthus scroll border enclosing a central vignette of the Bad Ems town arms with a mounted knight. Large Fraktur denomination legend "Fünf Mark" across the centre, flanked by numeral "5" medallions at upper corners. A red overprint text authorises reissue with Reichsfinanzminister approval dated 13.8.1922, with two red "Kränchen" stamp seals at lower left and right.

Reverse description Blue letterpress on cream paper. Central panoramic vignette of a bird's-eye view of Bad Ems in the Lahn valley, flanked on each side by a large vignette of an "Ems Kränchen" mineral water bottle. The denomination "Fünf Mark" in Fraktur script with a central numeral "5" medallion runs across the top. A ribbon scroll at the base carries the validity inscription.
