| Obverse description | The tughra of Sultan Mehmed V occupies the upper centre within an ornate cartouche, surmounted by intricate arabesque and guilloche border work in dark red. The central panel carries the Ottoman state title in large calligraphic script above the issue date in Arabic numerals, with the denomination numeral '5' repeated in the four corners. Two circular green guilloche rosettes flank the Arabic text of the promise-to-pay legend at centre, and the serial number appears twice in the lower field above a single signature line, with the printer's imprint 'Giesecke & Devrient' at the lower left margin. |
