| Obverse description | The rectangular obverse is divided into distinct fields, with the country name REPUBBLIKA TA' MALTA inscribed vertically, flanked by the date A.D. 2000 and the face value Lm5. The gold-plated central section bears the Great Coat of Arms of Malta in relief, while the secondary gold-plated element displays the Lesser Coat of Arms, both rendered in fine engraved detail against the silver ring surround. The overall design arrangement follows a formal heraldic composition consistent with Maltese commemorative coinage of the period. |
