Obverse description The rectangular obverse is divided into distinct fields, with the country name REPUBBLIKA TA' MALTA inscribed vertically, flanked by the date A.D. 2000 and the face value Lm5. The gold-plated central section bears the Great Coat of Arms of Malta in relief, while the secondary gold-plated element displays the Lesser Coat of Arms, both rendered in fine engraved detail against the silver ring surround. The overall design arrangement follows a formal heraldic composition consistent with Maltese commemorative coinage of the period.
