(Translation: Italian Republic G. Romagnoli - P. Giampaoli INC)
Reverse description A naturalistic, finely detailed bunch of grapes with vine leaf and tendril occupies the central field, suspended from a short stem at the top of the coin. The denomination legend L. 5 is divided by the grape cluster, with the currency mark L. to the left and the numeral 5 to the right, both in bold Roman type. Below the cluster in the exergue, the date of issue appears to the left and the mint mark R (for the Rome Mint) to the lower right. The overall design is emblematic of Italian viticulture and rendered with considerable botanical precision.
