The 5 Lire Buono di Cassa issued by the Ministero del Tesoro had an unusually long production life, with signature combinations cycling through multiple Treasury officials across more than two decades — a bureaucratic paper trail that collectors use to sequence blocks with some precision. The special issues for Belluno, Bolzano, Trento, and Trieste within blocks 3183–3212 reflect the administrative absorption of the former Austrian territories after 1918, when Italian small-denomination notes were pushed into newly annexed regions that had previously circulated Austro-Hungarian Kronen.

The ALFA catalog error misattributing the Maltese & Rossolini block start — placing it at 4750 rather than approximately 4739 — is a known reference discrepancy worth flagging against any block-numbered example in that transition range.
