Reverse description Central field displays the large numeral '5' above the denomination legend LIRA, with the date 1977 beneath, all within a wreath composed of wheat ears to the left and an olive branch to the right, their stems crossing at the base. The Turkish national symbols — a crescent moon and a five-pointed star — appear above the numeral at the top of the field. The overall design is clean and heraldic, with fine detail in the botanical elements of the wreath framing the denomination.

Additional information

Issued as part of the FAO's global coin program, which recruited national mints throughout the 1960s and 70s to produce circulating commemoratives promoting food security and agricultural development. Turkey's participation reflected the FAO's particular focus on Anatolian grain production and rural modernization during that decade. These pieces entered general circulation rather than being reserved for collectors, which means worn examples are far more common than pristine ones despite the commemorative intent.
