To the left and right of the eagle stand fasces, symbols of Italian Fascist authority. The denomination 5 LEK appears in the lower central field, flanked by the date 1939 to the left and the regnal year XVII to the right, with the mint mark R and the engraver's signature G. ROMAGNOLI below the date. The word PROVA appears vertically on the left inner border. The legend SHQIPNI arcs across the upper field and ALBANIA along the lower periphery.
