Obverse description	The left half of the note carries an intaglio bust portrait of Ștefan cel Mare (Stephen the Great), the medieval Moldavian ruler, set against a pale guilloche underprint. To the right, the Moldovan state coat of arms — an eagle bearing a shield charged with the aurochs head — is rendered within an elliptical guilloche vignette. The denomination 'CINCI LEI' appears in large bold lettering across the lower right, with the numeral '5' repeated at the upper left and lower right corners, and the Governor's facsimile signature with the title 'GUVERNATOR' printed in the centre. A dark band at the top bears the issuer's name 'BANCA NATIONALA A MOLDOVEI' in white letterpress, and an anti-counterfeiting warning runs along the bottom margin.
