Obverse description Frontal bust of King David IV the Builder (r. 1089–1125) rendered in a Byzantine-influenced style, depicted in ornate royal vestments richly embellished with geometric and floral motifs, a cross medallion at the chest, and a jewelled crown. The king holds a stylized oak branch with acorns in his left hand and presents a model of Gelati Cathedral with his right, symbolizing his role as patron of ecclesiastical architecture. To the upper right, the Georgian inscription names the monarch, with his regnal dates 1089 · 1125 inscribed below in Latin numerals. A beaded border frames the design.
