Georgia's banknote series from this period reflects a sustained relationship with the Polish Security Printing Works in Warsaw — a printer better known for producing Polish state documents but which has held contracts with numerous post-Soviet and Eastern European central banks since the 1990s. The 5 Lari denomination sits in a series that was redesigned from earlier issues, with the National Bank of Georgia gradually upgrading security specifications across its circulating notes during the 2010s.
The holographic stripe and colour-shifting ink combination places this firmly in the third generation of Georgian paper currency security architecture, well after the lari's turbulent introduction in 1995, when it replaced the interim coupon currency amid severe hyperinflation.
