| Reverse description | A colourfully enamelled central disc set within a silver-toned decorative border depicts a stylised serpent rendered in the Chinese folk-art tradition, its sinuous body adorned with yellow spotted scales and picked out in green, pink, and blue enamel. The snake coils amid a blossoming peony spray with red and yellow petals, green foliage, and blue decorative rocks, all set against a gilt engine-turned background evoking traditional Chinese decorative motifs. The surrounding border is struck in silver-plated copper-nickel and features an elaborate scrollwork and cloud pattern in relief, referencing Chinese ornamental design. The composition commemorates the Year of the Snake in the Chinese lunar calendar. No inscriptions appear on the reverse. |
