Obverse description Central field dominated by the ornate tughra (imperial cipher) of Sultan Mehmed V Reshad, rendered in intricate calligraphic style with elongated vertical shafts (tuğ) rising prominently above the interlaced loops. To the upper right of the tughra appears the Arabic invocation 'Azze Nasruhu' (May his victory be glorified). The regnal year appears at the bottom of the field in Arabic numerals.
