Issued to mark the 350th anniversary of the Norwegian postal service, founded by royal decree in 1647 under Frederick III. Norway's post was among the earliest state-run postal systems in Europe, initially operating as a single overland route between Copenhagen and Christiania before expanding through terrain that made reliable delivery genuinely difficult.
