Obverse description Elaborately quartered episcopal coat of arms displayed within an ornamental cartouche, supported on the dexter side by a rampant lion and flanked by foliate scrollwork. The shield bears the traditional Salzburg arms including the fess and cross elements. Above the shield rises an ecclesiastical hat or coronet surmounted by a patriarchal cross, typical of princely-bishop heraldic conventions. The entire composition is rendered in high relief against a flat field, with the coin's beaded border encircling the design.
