| Obverse description | Central field occupied by the quartered arms of Saxe-Meiningen, displaying the traditional Saxon barry with a crancelin in the first and fourth quarters, rampant lions in the second and third quarters, and a small inescutcheon at the centre, all surmounted by a ducal crown. The shield is supported by elaborate baroque acanthus mantling that fills the surrounding field. A continuous circular legend in Latin runs along the periphery, identifying the regent Charlotte Amalia of Saxe-Meiningen. The coin's rim is edged with a fine milled border. |
