Obverse description Right-facing bust of Saint Stephen I (Szent István), first King of Hungary, depicted in medieval royal regalia comprising an ornate jewelled crown surmounted by a cross, and elaborately decorated robes with visible chain and medallion at the shoulder. The effigy is rendered in high relief with fine detail to the beard and facial features. The circular Latin legend reads '+ STEPHANUS I. DEI GRATIA REX HUNGARIAE', separated from the portrait by a beaded inner border.

Reverse description Central field displays the denomination '5' and 'KORONA' in bold lettering, with the date '1909' below, all framed by two winged angels in high relief who support the Holy Crown of Hungary (Szent Korona) above the inscription. The design is contained within a beaded border.
