Obverse description Central field features the elaborate crowned cypher of Emperor Paul I (Pavel I), formed by the Cyrillic letter П surmounted by the Roman numeral I, rendered in an ornate calligraphic style with scrolled terminals. A small imperial crown rises above the monogram. The entire design is set within a plain field bordered by a continuous milled rim of fine beading.
