Obverse description Within a wreath of laurel and oak branches tied with a ribbon bow at base, the elaborate interlaced Cyrillic cipher of Empress Catherine II (Ekaterina II) occupies the central field, surmounted by the Imperial crown. The date 1765 is divided by the monogram, with '17' to the left and '65' to the right. The overall design is bold and deeply struck, characteristic of novodel restrikes produced at the Ekaterinburg Mint. A fine beaded border runs along the coin's rim.
