| Reverse description | The reverse presents the denomination and date within a recessed octagonal panel at the centre of the field, inscribed in bold Cyrillic characters: '5 КОПѢЕКЪ' with the date '1849.' below, flanked above by two small rosette or quatrefoil ornaments. A decorative foliate cartouche divides the date from the mint mark 'С.П.М.' (Saint Petersburg Mint), which appears at the lower centre beneath a horizontal ornamental rule. The entire central device is encircled by a continuous wreath of laurel or olive branches, tied at the base, and the whole is bounded by a reeded rim. The composition is balanced and strictly typographic in character, consistent with pattern coinage of the Nikolaev–Alexandrine transition period. |
