Obverse description Purple letterpress design with the issuing bank title and denomination rendered in bold Chinese characters against a guilloche underprint. The face carries two black manuscript signatures below the denomination text, with a redemption clause stating that two notes may be exchanged for one silver dollar. Border ornaments and geometric framing elements surround the central text block.

Reverse description Printed in light rose-red ink, the reverse is dominated by a large central medallion of concentric scalloped frames enclosing a floral rosette vignette, executed in fine letterpress. The denomination character 伍 (five) appears in circular cartouches at each corner. The issuing bank name 國家銀行 is inscribed at the top centre, and the date panel 一九三三年 (1933) is set within a rectangular frame at the bottom centre.
