| Obverse description | The obverse features a highly stylized rendition of the Ukrainian trident (tryzub), the national coat of arms, formed entirely from interlocking railway tracks that converge and loop to compose the three prongs of the symbol. The small trident emblem appears at upper center above the track composition, flanked to the right by the denomination '5₴'. The mint mark of Ukranian Railways appears centrally within the looped lower portion of the design. The legend 'УКРАЇНА' runs vertically along the left field, and the date '2023' is inscribed in two lines within the central loop of the track motif. |

Part of Ukraine's wartime "Country of Superheroes" commemorative series, this issue honors railway workers whose role became strategically critical following Russia's full-scale invasion in February 2022. Ukrainian Railways — Ukrzaliznytsia — operated under near-constant missile threat to evacuate civilians, move troops, and deliver humanitarian aid, with over 300 railway infrastructure strikes recorded in the first year of the war. The network moved roughly four million refugees westward in the opening weeks of the invasion.
The German silver composition is consistent across the circulating commemorative program Ukraine has used to document wartime service categories — a deliberate policy choice to keep these issues accessible rather than confined to collector packaging.
