| Obverse description | The obverse is divided into four quadrants by lines radiating from a central ornamental rosette, at the hub of which appears the international radioactive hazard symbol. The upper-left quadrant depicts a black stork standing in profile; the upper-right shows a bear; the lower-left portrays a Przewalski's horse; and the lower-right features a moose and a bison, all rendered in high relief against a plain field. At the upper centre, the Ukrainian trident coat of arms (tryzub) is displayed to the left of the large numeral '5', with the legends 'УКРАЇНА' and 'ГРИВЕНЬ' flanking the central rosette.
