Additional information

This piece belongs to a series of commemorative silver issues the National Bank of Ukraine produced in the early 2000s replicating circulating banknote designs in precious metal — a program aimed primarily at the collector market rather than any monetary function. The 5 hryvnia note it references entered circulation in 1994 as part of Ukraine's currency reform that replaced the interim karbovanets following independence.

At 124.4 grams of .999 silver, the format is deliberately oversized to accommodate faithful reproduction of the paper note's dimensions and detail — a technically demanding die requirement that often produces inconsistent surface quality across the run.
