| Obverse description | Armored equestrian effigy of Emperor Maximilian I facing left, depicted in full plate armour and plumed helmet, mounted on a caparisoned horse striding to the left. The emperor carries a sceptre in his raised right hand, with the imperial double-headed eagle displayed on a shield visible to the left of the horse. The date 1509 appears in the lower field beneath the horse. A continuous Latin legend surrounds the entire composition within a beaded border: MAXIMILIANVS DEI GRA ROM IMP SEMP AVG ARCHIDVX AVSTRIE. |
