Obverse description Central design features a medieval cog (Hanseatic sailing vessel) rendered in low relief, depicted in profile sailing on stylized waves, with a large numeral '5' prominently displayed to the upper left of the ship. A small star appears at the top of the mast. The surrounding legend, rendered in Gothic Fraktur blackletter script, reads 'FREIE STADT DANZIG' along the upper arc and 'FÜNF GULDEN' along the lower arc, with the date '1925' incorporated into the upper legend. The overall design evokes Danzig's historic maritime mercantile identity.
