Reverse description The arms of the Free City of Danzig occupy the central field, displayed on an oval shield surmounted by a crown and charged with a white cross on a striped background. Two rampant lions serve as heraldic supporters, one to each side of the shield, both facing inward with tails raised. The composition rests upon a stylized architectural plinth or base. The city's Latin motto 'NEC TEMERE NEC TIMIDE' is inscribed in three lines across the upper field above the arms. A small mint mark dot appears below the shield base.
