| Obverse description | Black intaglio print on pink underprint. A female allegorical vignette at upper left presents a woman with a lyre, personifying the Arts, while an elderly male figure seated at upper right personifies the Sciences. The central field carries extensive letterpress text in German Kurrent script setting out the legal tender provisions of the Staatsnote, with the date 7. Juli 1866 and the issuing authority k.k. Staats-Central-Casse, flanked by the denomination numeral 5 at left and right. Anti-counterfeiting warnings appear in the lower panel. |

Juli 1866. k.k.Staats-Central-Casse Die Ausgabe der Staatsnoten ist geſetzlich unter die Ueberwachung der Commiſſion zur Con- trole der Staatsſchuld ge- ſtellt. Die Nachmachung der Staatsnoten wird nach den Beſtim- mungen des allgemei- nen Strafgeſetzes mit ſchwerem Kerker bis zu 20 jähriger und selbst lebenständigticher Dauer be- ſtraft. |
