Obverse description Within a wreath composed of two laurel branches tied at the base, the denomination '5 FRANCS' is displayed in large numerals and lettering at center, with the Revolutionary calendar year 'L'AN' followed by the mint year inscribed below. The circular legend 'RÉPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE' runs along the periphery. The mint mark appears in the lower exergue, flanked by pellets. The overall design is strictly typographic, with no figural effigy, consistent with the austere neoclassical aesthetic of the French Directoire period.
