| Reverse description | A standing figure of Hercules, depicted nude and facing front, occupies the center of the field, his lion's skin draped over his left arm. He unites two female allegorical figures: Liberty to his left, standing and holding a pike surmounted by a Phrygian bonnet, and Equality to his right, holding a carpenter's level. The legend 'UNION ET FORCE' arches above, with the engraver's signature 'Dupré' appearing in the lower field. The composition is framed by a plain border and rendered in the austere neoclassical idiom of the French Directoire. |
